It's not every day you have one of these close up. The little guy was just coming to after whacking his head on a window inside the building and flew off just after this picture good as new. No animals were harmed in the creation of this photoset.

Seen near the La Jolla Cove in San Diego California. Looking at this magnified, I was struck by seeing feathers growing out of the gull's beak. This looks best viewed large. Picture A Day July 14, 2009 - Red Bird of Happiness

Little red bird singing its heart out in front of a falling-over barn, across the Colorado River from the tiny town of Bend, Texas. My best guess - this could be a male Summer Tanager, a fairly common North American songbird. But unusual for me, since nearly all of the red-colored birds I've seen around here are cardinals. Of course, I could be entirely wrong - if any of the bird experts around here could chime in, I'd appreciate it. Picture taken on a hot, lazy Saturday afternoon in June 2009. Humming_Bird_2

Not sure why I became fascinated by trying to get a picture of a humming bird, but once I started trying, I wasn't going to stop until I had a freaking shot of a humming bird. So five hours later I had maybe two come by, and one of them I think came twice. Only thing interesting about this is that since it was shot through a screen, the bokeh looks like the screen, but the screen is between the camera and the bird... Pretty fascinating how that works...

These birds landed behind me and I had to turn around and take the picture really fast. I also don't remember what kind of bird it was.
