Robin
Robin

View large is recommended Finally a nice shot of "my" Robin although it's taken through my window (that's why it's a little unsharp). This Robin visits our garden several times a day and normally I work every day in the morning. Due to my illness I'm able to make pictures in the morning and to enjoy the sun at that side of my house. Today I took advantage of that because this Robin has never been so close to my house with such nice light! The chains you see in here are from a hanging basket in which the Robin is looking for seeds.
Cold Coal Tit - Winchester

This tiny little bird is a Coal Tit. He looks like he is all puffed up against the cold. This is one of the many birds that congregate around my bird feeder Looks MUCH better large on black. See where this picture was taken. [?] Look at my stream on black on the really cool site DARCKR Also, have a peek at my Interestingness page

Happy Mother's Day
We have a bush in our backyard that has a Cardinal's nest in it. I went outside this morning to find that the babies had hatched, right on Mother's Day :) I thought it was the sweetest thing and it completely brightened my day. They were so hard to get a picture of, so this was the best one I got. It is a really dense bush and they are right at the top in the middle, but inside. So I walked around and stood on a stool until I could get this shot :) It was cute because I randomly started whistling Break Out! Break Out! by All Time Low, and when I did two of the babies perked up and opened their mouths. I guess they thought I was their mom chirping :) Anyway, happy mother's day to any moms out there :)

I took the picture quite in a rush, my camera wasn't really ready, but finally the result was okay! :) I just had to crop it quite because the stork was rather far away. Picture taken in the zoo of Basel

Perched vulture

This is a bearded vulture, or lammergeier, which is a beard of prey one also finds in Switzerland, why do I go to Germany to photography these? ;) Picture taken in the Wilhelma zoo in Stuttgart. I like the red ring around the eyes.
