This picture was taken in the dusk. The grass was dewy and the air was mystic. John decided to get on all four, and there it was, a moment of life and light captured.
Wood River Wetlands, Agency Lake, Oregon

Sunset - Agency Lake. Mount Shasta is visible in the distance. I found a new place to run on the days I work in Chiloquin, and I returned for another run last Tuesday and this time I took some better photos. The Wood River Wetlands are, I think, former farmland that has been converted back to wetlands for improved water quality and bird habitat.
Nose Art for the B-24 Liberator Wazzle Dazzle
Our Pilot's wife told the crew a story at dinner the first time our crew came together at Lemour ,CA. She told of a stork that lived on an island in the Pacific which was surrounded by 1000 other islands whcih contained a female stork on each of them. Each morning the stork would fly fast and happily to each of the 100 islands saying "Wazzle Dazzle". At eventide he could barely fly home saying W-a-z-z-l-e D-a-z-z-le very slowly. Wazzle Dazzle is bird language of course, do you know what it is in English? WOW!!! do I love that stuff. We immediately adopted Wazzle Dazzle as our nose art. We paid a "permanent party" GI two quarts of Irish Whiskey to paint it on our plane in England. Lt Taylor
Wood River Wetlands

This shot is actually looking out over an area that isn't part of the Wood River Wetlands that is still farmland. The mountains in the distance are Crater Lake National Park. I did a long run here last weekend - the last trail run before the snow (finally) arrived. The Wood River Wetlands are, I think, former farmland that has been converted back to wetlands for improved water quality and bird habitat.

Elkhorn Slough Estuarine Reserve, Monterey County, CA. I tried taking more pictures of birds, but they were pretty skittish in general, and trying to get a steady shot with the telephoto lens was not so easy. October 10, 2007. Photo #26 of 42.
